Jalandhar: The opposition Congress on Saturday alleged that it was under pressure from the State Government the party was denied permission to hold an election rally of Sonia Gandhi in Punjab Armed Police (PAP) ground. Congress candidate from this Lok Sabha seat and former PPCC chief Mohinder Singh Kay Pee claimed that PAP authorities had told them that the government had directed them not to allow a rally at the ground. The rally would be held at Burlton Park on Sunday. He said many public functions, including a rally addressed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was held there during the last Assembly elections and said the ground was suitable on security reasons.
