Held on graft charge

Pollachi: Sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) on Thursday trapped a Village Administrative Officer (VAO), Jayakumar and Deputy Tahsildar, Namasivayam on charges of demanding and accepting bribe for clearing a patta transfer application.

According to DVAC sources, Asokan of Sundarapuram in Coimbatore had applied for patta transfer of 1.25 acres of land in Vadapudur in Kinathukkadavu.

It is learnt that the VAO and Deputy Tahsildar demanded a bribe of Rs 2,000.

The two were caught red-handed.
