SHIMOGA: C.M. Narayana Sastry, chairman of Sri Uma Maheshwara Seva Trust of Hosagunda in Sagar taluk, said on Sunday that Raghavendra Swamy of Mantralaya was one of the great spiritual leaders who showed the path of righteousness to his devotees. He was speaking after releasing a CD of devotional songs on Raghavendra Swamy, titled “Nanna Oluvina Geleya”, brought out by Geeta Shri Audio of Bangalore, at Hosagunda. Mr. Sastry said it was heartening to note that rural talents were getting adequate exposure with the advent of multimedia. He said that young artistes should make continuous efforts to sharpen their talent. Mr. Sastry said that artistes and writers of “Malenadu” had won accolades from their admirers all over. President of the Hosur Gram Panchayat Jyothi Muralidhar, who presided over the function, said that it was heartening to note that young artistes were showing equal interest in promoting both Western music and traditional music. The 10 songs in the CD have been written by Honagodu Chinmaya M. Rao and Deepak Sagar. Chinmaya N. Rao has composed the music. Sheela, Subramanya and Ramesh rendered some of the songs on the occasion.
