DMK, DMDK activists clash near Dindigul

Staff Reporter

DINDIGUL: Congress leader and Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation G.K. Vasan had to change his campaign route following a clash between DMDK and DMK workers at Dharmathupatti village in Athoor union on Sunday.

Traffic was disrupted for sometime on the Sempatti-Oddanchatram main road.

Mr. Vasan was proceeding to Kannivadi, where a DMDK candidate was campaigning. When the candidate reached Dharmathupatti village, DMK supporters did not allow him to campaign and this resulted in a clash.

Four DMDK activists were reportedly injured.

On hearing about the incident, DMDK workers from nearby areas blocked the main road between Karamadai and Dharmathupatti villages, demanding immediate arrest of assaulters. The DMK men too gathered at Karamadai junction. Mr. Vasan was stopped by the police at Dharmathupatti and asked him to take another route.
