Forum to campaign against Congress
Special Correspondent
SALEM: Accusing the Congress-led government at the Centre for not stopping the war to save the Tamils in Sri Lanka, the Film World’s Tamil Eelam Support Movement has decided to launch its anti-Congress campaign in all the Parliament constituencies where the Congress is contesting in Tamil Nadu.
The forum began its campaign by organising a public meeting at from Erode on Monday.
It will be followed by Salem (May 5) in which its organiser and cine director Bharati Raja and others would participate, said its spokesperson Manojkumar.
Awareness
“The exercise is to create an awareness among the Tamils that Congress, had it willed, could have stopped the war in Sri Lanka long back. Since it has not and even gone to the extent of abetting, we have decided to show our anguish and sentiments against it,” Manojkumar said.
Common banner
Though the non-political forum is striving hard to bring the Tamil groups under a common banner to fight for the Lankan Tamils, he, however, said that it was not against either DMK or its chief M. Karunanidhi.
“Congress has however misled the State on the Island issue,” he pointed out.
The campaign will be held in Sivaganga (Home Minister P. Chidambaram contests), Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Sivakasi, Theni, Myladuthurai, Cuddalore, Pondicherry and in other places, he added.
