EC go-ahead to Rajasthan on review meetings
Special Correspondent
JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government has received permission from the Central Election Commission to hold review meetings pertaining to three areas of immediate importance prior to the completion of the Lok Sabha election process on May 16. The Government had sought permission from the Commission to hold review meetings on the water, power and relief sectors.
“We have scheduled the review meetings for May 8, a day after the polling in the State. These areas require immediate attention and I am happy about getting permission from the Election Commission to go ahead,” said Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
The Election Commission’s letter, received by the State on April 26, includes clearance for the members of the Council of Ministers in all the States where polling is over to tour the districts -- where re-polling is not scheduled – along with senior officials. The letter also allows review of implementation of ongoing programmes in the presence of field officers who are not on election duty.
The EC directive has also allowed inviting of bids, their evaluation, finalisation and award of contacts.
