It sends reminders about intake of medicines, diet, etc. Mobile webcam can serve as home surveillance tool HYDERABAD: Ever wanted to be in two places at the same time? Now you can. No more missing loved ones, no more missing fun and care. Buddibot 1.0 service, a subscription-based communication tool designed to keep distributed families ‘emotionally’ connected, especially the younger ones with their elders, was launched here on Thursday. People living in far off places can remotely operate the toy-car-sized robot around the house and interact with their kin. Interacting with media persons after the launch, Buddibot CEO and co-founder Subba Rao Machiraju said, Buddibot 1.0 software allows the users to send reminders about intake of medicines and diet. Why, one can take part in the functions, upload pictures without much effort. “It works with WowWee Technologies Rovio mobile webcam, a WiFi -enabled home explorer developed by a Canada-based company. This can be remotely controlled using the Net,” he explained. Utilising the Rovio mobile webcam and microphone, the Buddibot service can be handy for home surveillance too. The company will be selling through its group company and Reliance Digital and online at www.smartbotsdirect.com. “We are targeting a sale of 3,000 units this year with a special focus on NRIs,” said Mr. Machiraju. According to Helpage Society, over 11 per cent of the country’s 80 million elders live alone and this service is a response to the needs of an aging web-savvy families.
