Welcome showers: Motorists drive through rain in Bangalore on Friday. Bangalore: After experiencing a hot Friday, Bangaloreans got some relief towards evening with the city receiving light rain along with thunder showers. Except for tree-fall at two places and power failure in some areas, there were no rain-related complaints recorded at the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) control rooms. A tree was uprooted near Shantisagar Hotel at Domlur in BBMP East Zone and another tree fell near Malleswaram 7th Main, disrupting traffic movement in the area. Power disruptionPower failure was reported from Chandra Layout, M.C. Layout, HVR Layout and surrounding areas. Residents, who had to stay without power for more than an hour, said all attempts to call the Bescom control room were in vain. Bescom officials attributed the power cut to the tripping of one of the feeders in the area. “It has been repaired now,” the officials said. According to the Meteorological Department, the city recorded a maximum of 17 mm rain .
