Serious issue: Finance Minister K. Rosaiah (third from left), Chief Secretary P. Ramakanth Reddy (fourth from left) and officials addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Friday. —

HYDERABAD: If the almanac goes, stars and planets will still be in the sky. This was how Finance Minister K. Rosaiah described the safety and intactness of data in the computers of D-Block in the Secretariat against the Opposition criticism that the Thursday’s fire was engineered by government to destroy this data.

He said the data didn’t go as computers remained untouched by the flames.

Back up data

Even if the data had gone by chance due to destruction of computers in fire or other calamities, back up data kept by servers will still be available, he said. Mr. Rosaiah condemned “the mean propaganda unleashed by the Opposition to give out a truncated version of the fire accident by placing some ‘gaajula mallaram’ (folklore) fables before people”.
