Factory employee succumbs to burns

Bangalore: His eagerness not to miss the live telecast of a DLF IPL match cost Vineeth, a 19-year-old factory employee, dear.

Vineeth, a native of Kannur in Kerala, succumbed to burns when he came in contact with a live electric wire at Kaikondanahalli near HSR Layout here on Wednesday night.

Vineeth lived with three friends in a rented house at Kaikondanahalli. On Wednesday night, they were watching the live telecast of a DLF IPL match.

“Power went off when the match had reached an exciting stage. Vineeth and his roommate Anup climbed up the electric pole to fiddle with the cable, but came in contact with the live wire and suffered electric shock,” said an officer of HSR Layout police station.

Both fell to the ground, and while Anup suffered minor injuries, Vineeth died on the way to hospital.

HSR Layout police are investigating the case.

Burgled

Gold ornaments worth Rs. 1.25 lakh and Rs. 25,000 in cash was burgled from a constable’s house at the Shivajinagar police quarters here on Thursday. The constable Shivamurthy had locked the main door and left for work, and the burglary was discovered when he returned home in the night.

Girl rescued

The Byappanahalli police arrested an autorickshaw driver and rescued his girlfriend, a minor, and booked him for kidnapping and rape. The accused, Puttaraju, and the eighth standard student eloped a year ago and were staying in a room at Puttanahalli in Hoskote.

The police raided their place on Thursday and arrested him.

The girl underwent a medical check-up. Puttaraju is in judicial custody
