Letters to the Editor
This refers to the report that the State Advisory Board of the Allahabad High Court has recommended the revocation of the National Security Act slapped on Varun Gandhi, the BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from Pilibhit. Need anybody stress that a draconian law like NSA should not be misused against political rivals? It will be interesting to see how effectively and incisively the BJP exploits the recommendation. H.P. Murali, Bangalore Although Varun Gandhi was jailed following his hate speech offending the minorities, an impression did gain ground that he was singled out for harsh treatment. There were instances of other top leaders making such speeches too but no action was taken against them. Under the circumstances, the Advisory Board recommendation is appropriate and impartial. P.U. Krishnan, Udhagamandalam
