ANANTAPUR: As part of the State Government efforts to control prices of superfine variety rice, ‘sona masuri’, in the market, a mobile sales counter was launched here on Saturday in association with rice millers. The counter was inaugurated by Joint Collector T. Chiranjeevulu at Rani Nagar. The mobile sales counter will sell sona masuri rice at Rs. 20 per kg and supply 10 kgs of to each household irrespective of white or pink card. Speaking after inaugurating the counter, the Joint Collector suggested the president of District Rice Millers’ Association, Basha, to take the mobile counter to the places where poor and middle-class are staying. Cases registeredThe district administration has been taking steps to control the prices of other essential commodities like pulses and edible oils. Six enforcement teams were conducting raids on rice mills, godowns, wholesalers, distributors and dealers to control prices of rice and pulses. The teams had registered 26 cases and seized essential commodities worth about Rs. 56 lakh that were stored illegally.
