dated May 12, 1959: Canal water dispute

The President of the World Bank, Mr. Eugene Black, is arriving in New Delhi on May 12 for what is stated to be a final attempt to solve the canal waters dispute between India and Pakistan. Mr. Black will be accompanied by Mr. W.A.B. Illiff, Vice-President of the World Bank and three others including two engineers. The President of the World Bank will present a plan to both countries sharing the waters of the Indus basin.
