‘Decision to only support NDA and not join it’ Charge of violating ‘alliance dharma’ rejected HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti has rebutted the Left parties’ charge that it had betrayed the Grand Alliance by extending support to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). TRS leaders T. Harish Rao and N. Narasimha Reddy recalled the Left’s claims that the understanding between the Grand Alliance partners was limited to the elections and the parties were free to decide their course of action as and when the elections were over. It was the Left that repeatedly claimed that there was no common agenda for the alliance partners and that Telangana was not on the agenda of the Grand Alliance. Mere support to NDASpeaking to reporters here on Monday, they said the TRS which had a single point agenda of separate Telangana had decided to support the NDA which had promised to fulfil the long-cherished dream of the people of the region. “Moreover, we have announced our decision to support the NDA, not join it,” Mr. Narasimha Reddy said. Taking strong objection to the claims of the Telugu Desam Party leaders that the TRS had violated the ‘alliance dharma’, they recalled that it was the TDP that gave ‘B’ forms for allotment of the party ticket to its candidates in the seats allotted to the TRS as part of the alliance. The TRS leaders said Congress leaders like V. Hanumantha Rao and K. Keshava Rao had no moral right to level charges against the TRS after “deceiving the people of Telangana for five long years.” Mr. Harish Rao was particularly critical of Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal for his comments against TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao. ‘Political novice’He said that the MP was a “political novice” who had no locus standi to criticise Mr. Rao. It was a matter of days before Mr. Rajagopal was out of the political scene as he was set to lose from Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency this time.
