Form ‘49 O’ for ‘protest vote’

Staff Reporter

KRISHNAGIRI: If a voter does not wish to vote to any candidate, he/she can fill up `49 O’ form available at the presiding officers of the booths and has to sign in 17A register kept at the booths, says a press release issued by the District Election Officer V.K. Shamugam here on Tuesday.

The release further added that exercising the vote is a democratic right of the citizens of the country. District administration has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure free and fair election in Krishnagiri Lok Sabha constituency.

Stringent action will be taken if anybody is found threatening or compelling the voters to vote for a particular candidate. Hence, voters can come forward freely to exercise their rights at the designated election booths without any fear and assist the district administration to conduct elections smoothly.
