182 lecturers to be appointed by June

Staff Reporter

TIRUCHI: The Anna University, Tiruchi, will appoint 182 lecturers to permanent vacancies by June.

Having obtained the approval of the Syndicate, the university has decided to interview candidates shortly for making appointments in all departments. The University has received 2,000 applications so far, its Vice-Chancellor V. Ramachandran told presspersons here on Wednesday.

The selected candidates would be posted in the University’s main campus in the city as well as in other constituent colleges. The University Grants Commission had empowered the University to award degree certificates in various disciplines.

He said the University would spend one crore rupees to construct permanent sheds in each constituent college to conduct classes for second year students and for laboratory.

Sheds to be constructed

The sheds would be constructed by August first week, he added.

The University has planned to start a value added skill development programme to enhance the vocational skills of the students. The practical-oriented programme has been devised to enable second-year students learn subjects connected with their discipline they were pursuing as well as other disciplines. The students would be given certificates upon completion of the course after three years, Dr. Ramachandran said.

TANCET examination

The University would introduce M.E programme in Energy Conservation and Management from this year. For the first time, the University would conduct TANCET examination for PG engineering courses at its main campus here on May 30 and 31.

Around 2,000 students would appear for the examination.

Dr. Ramachandran said the University would organise a three-day international conference on Operations Research Application in Engineering and Management from May 27.

About 280 participants including 24 from abroad had already registered for the meet, he added.
