Independent seeks action against BJP candidate
Special Correspondent
He alleges that he and his supporters were attacked while campaigning
CHENNAI: An Independent candidate in South Chennai Lok Sabha constituency has filed a writ petition in the Madras High Court seeking a direction to election authorities to take appropriate action against the BJP candidate in the constituency for “preventing him from canvassing in the election.”
In his petition, K.R. Ramaswamy alias ‘Traffic’ Ramaswamy alleged that he and his supporters were attacked when he was campaigning in the MGR Nagar market on Monday. His vehicle and audio equipment were damaged. He immediately informed the Central Election Observer on telephone and the Returning Officer of the constituency. He preferred two complaints with the MGR Nagar police station which were acknowledged by police. He prayed the court to take appropriate action against the BJP candidate in the constituency, L.Ganesan. Pending disposal of the petition, he sought a direction to the police authorities to take appropriate action.
