VIJAYAWADA: The city unit of the CPI(M) on Tuesday urged the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) officials to take appropriate steps to ensure that only protected drinking water was supplied to people. CPI (M) city secretary R. Raghu and others visited areas in the vicinity of K. L. Rao Head Water Works here. They found that large quantities of sewage was being let out into the Krishna near Head Water Works. Mr. Raghu said this stood testimony to lack of proper planning on the part of the VMC and negligence of officials.
