HYDERABAD: Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi has called for a meeting of all candidates of the party here on Wednesday, in what is a first-of-its-kind exercise and touted as a training programme, ahead of the counting on May 16. The party has prepared a booklet including a list of “do’s and don’ts” which is to be given to every candidate. The training programme was put together as newcomers were in a sizeable number in the party. The candidates will interact with their party president for about three hours on what they should do on the day of counting. Party directiveIt is understood that the candidates would also be told about how other parties would be wooing them and how they needed to avoid temptation once the results were out. Importantly, they will also be told to come back to Hyderabad by 6 p.m. on May 16 for the Praja Rajyam Legislature Party meeting. Meanwhile, a delegation of party leaders led by general secretary Allu Aravind called on Justice B. Subhashan Reddy, Chairman of the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), and drew his attention to the health situation in the State. They informed him about the death of tribals in the agency areas of Visakhapatnam district due to viral fevers. They said 16 people died of anthrax during the last 45 days. The delegation included the party’s Political Affairs Committee member P. Upendra and general secretaries P. Mithra and P. Vinay Kumar. Referring to the death of 12 persons, including children, due to water contamination in Bholakpur in the State capital, they lambasted the government for neglecting the situation. At a separate press conference, Dr. Vinay Kumar demanded that a health emergency be declared in the State. He said that the viral fevers, mostly due to water contamination, had spread across the State now. From Bholakpur here and Mandamarri in Adilabad district, viral fever cases were being reported from Anantapur, Kadapa, Karimnagar and several tribal areas.
