Workshop on open source library system

Kochi: The Union Christian College, Aluva, in association with the National Resource Centre for Free/Open Source Software and Anna University, Chennai, will hold a two-day workshop on Koha, a highly sophisticated integrated open source library system, and Linux operating environment from May 22. Experts from Anna University will lead sessions on Koha installation and customisation in four interactive sessions in which hands-on training will be given on the software coordinates.

According to a U.C. College media note, the workshop is aimed at familiarising librarians, library science students, information specialities and computer faculty involved in library software installation with Koha system, which offers full-featured Integrated Library System (ILS) including OPAC, cataloguing, circulation, acquisitions, serials control and the like.

The registration fee for participation in the workshop is Rs.300, which may be paid by demand draft or cheque in favour of the principal, U.C. College. The last date for receipt of applications is May 15. The maximum number of participants will be 30, and they will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
