Two killed in oil refinery fire

Guwahati: Two workers were killed in a major fire at the country’s oldest refinery in Digboi on Wednesday. The fire that broke out at the Delayed Coker unit of the IOC refinery around 6.35 a.m. was brought under control and extinguished after an hour-long battle by fire fighting personnel of the installation. They were assisted by fire tenders from nearby industrial establishments and the Tinsukia State Fire Service Organisation and Tinsukia terminal of the Assam Oil Division.
The two victims have been identified as Bashab Bhattacharjee, an IOC worker and Kamal Saikia, a contractor’s employee.
