Probe ordered into killing of girl in cross-fire
Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday ordered a probe into the killing of a 17-year-old girl during exchange of fire between the Army and militants in Kishtwar district.
Divisional Commissioner Pawan Kotwal directed the Deputy Commissioner to conduct a magisterial probe into the incident and submit a report to the government, following protests by the people blaming the Army for the killing, official sources said.
Mr. Kotwal also directed the authorities to provide compensation of Rs. 1 lakh to the next of the kin of the deceased. — PTI
