3 killed in West Bengal
Indrani Dutta
Kolkata: Three persons were killed in the final phase of polling in West Bengal on Wednesday. State chief electoral officer Debasis Sen said the polling was more peaceful than in the last two phases.
There were “sporadic minor incidents” said Home Secretary Ardhendu Sen. He said till 5 p.m., about 70 per cent voting was recorded.
Rains on Tuesday forced the adjournment of polls in 100 booths in the Mathurapur (SC) constituency in South 24 Parganas as the EVMs had got damaged and could not be repaired during the day. Polling will be held here on May 14 and a special observer was being flown in to supervise the booths, where paramilitary forces would also be posted, Mr. Debasis Sen said.
