Third Front: Aravind sees key role for PR

Special Correspondent

Rubbishes exit polls, says PR will get 160 Assembly, 15 LS seats

HYDERABAD: Praja Rajyam has expressed confidence that as the Third Front was already ‘fractured’ with the TRS deciding to sail with the NDA, there was every chance that such a Front would cease to exist.

In such an event, after the NDA and the UPA, the PR would end up playing a key role in what would then technically be considered the Third Front, party general secretary Allu Aravind said at a press conference here on Thursday.

Responding to questions, he stuck to the contention of party president K. Chiranjeevi, that Praja Rajyam would win a minimum of 160 Assembly and more than 15 Lok Sabha seats. He side-stepped questions of the party’s possible post-poll allies in the State by simply saying they were sure of ending up with the magic number and slightly more. However, Mr. Aravind said that as a political party, they were expected to keep their doors open for discussions with just about anyone.

Mr. Aravind lashed out at the psephologists used by the national television channels and the exit polls, questioning their prediction of a poor performance by the party.
