Merchant Chamber’s wish-list

KOLKATA: Even as various political parties remain locked in parleys aimed at forming the next government at the Centre, the Merchants Chamber of Commerce (MCC) had already met Union Finance Ministry officials and had submitted its wish-list.
The chamber met the Union Revenue Secretary, the chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes and the chairman of the Central Board of Excise and Customs on Friday and asked for a white paper giving the roadmap on the early introduction of goods and services tax.
In direct taxes, it wanted an enhancement in the limit on personal income tax to Rs. 2.50 lakh from Rs. 1.50 lakh now.
