Minister seeks reopening of store

Thiruvanananthapuram: Cooperation Minister G. Sudhakaran has demanded the withdrawal of the order issued by the Principal Accountant-General (Audit) on May 13 for closing down the Accountant-General’s Office Consumer Cooperative Society.

In a letter to the official, he said the store had been functioning well since 1963. The closure order had been issued for not implementing the direction to change its working hours. The administrative control of the store, which functioned under the cooperation law, was vested with the Registrar of Cooperative Societies and not the Accountant-General. — Special Correspondent
