I won’t let lotus bloom: Paswan

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Lok Jan Shakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan on Friday ruled out the possibility of his ever joining a BJP-led alliance and stressed that he would never allow the “lotus to bloom.”

Mr. Paswan sought to set at rest speculation following the visit to his residence by Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav and Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Ajit Singh enquiring about the fire mishap in his house.

The LJP chief maintained that the fourth front would thwart any BJP attempt to form a government. “There is no question of [its] allowing communal forces to come to power.”

The three-party front, including the Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Samajwadi Party, would collectively decide on its future course of action on the basis of election results.

Mr. Paswan said the Congress would have the upper hand if the UPA secured a majority. Even the SP, which was not part of the UPA, would help in government formation.

United fight

To a question, Mr. Paswan said a united fight in Bihar would have been desirable. Still, he hoped, the RJD and the LJP would make a rich haul of seats.

On Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s plea for a special status to Bihar, Mr. Paswan said it was a farce. He claimed that the LJP and the RJD had demanded it much earlier.
