GUNTUR: The BIS, Hyderabad divisional office personnel raided the premises of four drinking water packaging and manufacturing units in and around Guntur and found that they were selling water with spurious BIS Standard Marking. BIS Director B. Rama Krishna Rao in a release here on Friday said Praphik Beverages (p) Limited at Nallapadu on city outskirts, had lost the licence following dissatisfactory running of the plant but selling with spurious marking on its packs. Other three industries – Sri Sai Mineral Industries at Yadava Street, Old Guntur, Rainbow Drops at Chowdavaram, Galib Enterprises, Sanjivi Nagar, Guntur – also did not have licence, but were selling packaged drinking water with ISI marking. The BIS gives licence for one year and conducts regular inspectionsin the market and process at the plant at least six times in a year. Cases would be booked against the four firms.
