NEW DELHI: Janata Dal (Secular) president H.D. Deve Gowda on Friday said the Third Front would try to form a government at the Centre with the support of a few more parties. “Since we may not be able to form the government on our own, we will seek the support of other parties,” he said but did not name them. Talking to The Hindu from Bangalore, Mr. Gowda, said he was in regular touch with CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat and CPI general secretary A.B. Bardhan discussing the political developments. Asked whether AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa would continue to stay in the Third Front, Mr. Gowda said he had not spoken to her in recent days, but added that she too was attending Monday’s meeting. Meanwhile, Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhara Rao has ruled out any alliance with the Congress, accusing it of “betraying” the Telangana people on the separate State issue. “We are with the NDA and not going anywhere. The NDA will form the government at the Centre with the support of more than 300 MPs,” he told journalists here. The TRS wanted to support the NDA as it had promised to carve out Telangana from the existing Andhra Pradesh within 100 days of forming the government at the Centre, he said.
