DU pre-admission forms to be available from June 1

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Sale and receipt of the common pre-admission forms of Delhi University along with an exhaustive information bulletin will begin at 16 admission information centres in different parts of the Capital from June 1.

The centres will remain open up to June 15 on all days, barring Sundays, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Announcing the admission schedule here on Friday, Dean of Students’ Welfare S. K. Vij said the University would be offering about 49,000 seats during the coming academic year.

“For this academic year, the total number of seats in each course has been increased by 36 per cent on the base year 2006-07. The quota for students from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will be calculated on the basis of the enhanced number of seats,” he added.

Students can also obtain separate college prospectus and application forms directly from various colleges.

The information bulletin – which will also be available in Hindi – will comprise details about courses available at all Delhi University colleges, last year’s cut-off percentages for different courses, and instructions on filling the form.

It will also contain a map indicating not just the location of colleges, but also information on Delhi Metro railway feeder bus routes and important DTC routes.

The first admission list will be announced on June 25.

The University will also hold “Open Days” to provide information to students and parents at different colleges between May 24 and June 3.

The application forms for the School of Open Learning will be sold between June 1 and October 31, while for the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board the forms will be available from June 4 to 19.

The University will also hold counselling sessions for the SC/ST candidates. Students from these categories need to get themselves registered at any of the following registration centres: Arts Faculty at the North Campus; Office of the Deputy Dean of Students’ Welfare at the South Campus; Rajdhani College; and Shyam Lal College.

“We will be distributing a detailed booklet in the form of frequently asked questions to guide SC/ST students seeking admission,” said Prof. Vij on Friday.
