MOSCOW: Sri Lanka and Belarus will be granted dialogue partner status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) at the group’s summit next month. Meeting in Moscow on Friday Foreign Ministers of the SCO agreed to recommend the move to the leaders of their countries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. This year’s SCO summit will take place in Yekaterinburg, Russia, on June 15-16. The SCO regional security group comprises China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Sri Lanka and Belarus will be the first countries to receive the status of dialogue partner, which was instituted last year.
