KOCHI: A meeting convened by Principal Secretary T. Balakrishnan at Thiruvananthapuram has decided to extend the government’s support to the investment projects to be taken up at the global investors’ meet that will be held in Kochi on July 24 and 25. The meet is being organised by the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Proposals for investment in 999 panchayats of Kerala will be presented before the investors at the meet. Projects in food processing, eco-tourism, manufacture of Ayurvedic medicine, rubber processing and IT will be available for investment. Studies on the investment opportunities were conducted by a team led by Martin Patric, the head of the Economics department of Maharaja’s College, and detailed project reports will be presented at the investors meet. KSIDC, Kitco, KSFE and other government departments will participate in the meet. Trade representatives from the U.K., Malaysia, Singapore, Germany, Russia and other European countries are expected to participate in the meet. The investors’ meet will provide an opportunity for adopting measures to tide over the economic slowdown, said Chamber president K.M. Abdulla. Revival of sick industries, technology transfer, launching of tie-ups would also come up during the meet, he said.
