‘A shock treatment’

Staff Reporter

KOZHIKODE: The Kerala State Muslim Youth League has said that the victory of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in the Lok Sabha election is a reflection of the stand adopted by the people of the State against corruption, communalism and terrorism.

Youth league president K.M. Shaji and general secretary N. Shamsudheen said here on Saturday that the results also showed the people approved the achievements of the United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre.

The tie-up of the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) with the Peoples’ Democratic Party failed to evoke response from the electorate. The electorate was mature enough to reject the communal propaganda of the CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, who masterminded the alliance with Abdul Nasser Maudany. The Lok Sabha election results are a shock treatment for the LDF government in the State which was promoting corruption and nepotism in all spheres of activity, they said.
