EC rejects pleas for recounting

HYDERABAD: The Election Commission has rejected all requests for re-counting of votes except in the case of Gopalpuram Assembly constituency in West Godavari district.

Even in this case, the Election Commission, after verifying all records, stood by its announcement declaring the Telugu Desam candidate from Gopalapuram as elected.

The EC rejected the pleas made for re-counting of votes in the Rajahmundry Parliamentary constituency and the Assembly constituencies of Jangaon, Uravakonda and Nellimarla.
