Coaching classes for civil services exam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Institute of Civil Services Examination Training Society under the aegis of the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Department has invited applications from candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and other communities for admission to free coaching classes for the Civil Services Examination (preliminary and mains) to be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission in 2010.

Eligible Scheduled Caste candidates from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh can also apply. Candidates will take an entrance test in General Studies on the model of the UPSC preliminary examination for admission. Students who qualify in the written test will be called for an interview. Thirty candidates will be given admission. Out of the 30 seats, 60 per cent is reserved for Scheduled Castes, 30 per cent for Scheduled Tribes and 10 per cent for other castes. Ten per cent of Scheduled Caste seats are reserved for candidates from other States.

Candidates holding a degree from any recognised university can apply. Final-year degree students awaiting results can also apply. The age limit for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates is between 21 and 35 years as on 1/8/2009, between 21 and 33 years for Other Backward Communities and between 21 and 30 years for general category candidates.

Applications along with resume of the candidate and attested copies of certificates to prove age, community and educational qualification and income should reach The Principal, Institute for Civil Services Examination Training Society, ILM Building, PTP Nagar, Thiruvananthaopuram - 600038 on or before May 30.

Applications can also be downloaded from the web site www.icsets.org. Entrance examination will be conducted in June 2009 at the Pre-Examination Training Centres under the Scheduled Castes Development Department in Palakkad, Kozhikode, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram.
