Physician honoured

CHENNAI: City-based physician K.V.Thiruvengadam has been elected for honorary membership of the ALPHA OMEGA ALPHA Society, United States, in recognition of his achievements.
Prof.Thiruvengadam, a former Professor of Medicine, Madras Medical College, is said to be the first Indian physician to receive this honour. He joins an impressive and distinguished list of members that includes renowned teachers, researchers and Nobel laureates in the field of medicine all over the world.
The Society was founded in 1902 to recognise scholarship, professionalism, leadership and service. Each year, it recognises distinguished persons for their outstanding contributions to medicine and related fields.
The award recognises a legendary teacher. who has taught many generations of medical students — undergraduates and postgraduates. Prof.Thiruvengadam’s expertise in different areas of medicine in a career stretches to nearly 31 years in the State Medical Service and, later, in private medical institutions for nearly 25 years to date.
