HYDERABAD: Girls have not only fared better in the Class 12 exams conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), but seemed to have also bagged the topper’s crown. Toppers?From information gathered till Wednesday evening, the city topper was Aakrithi Shroff of Chirec Public School scoring 96.2 per cent in the science stream, followed by Mrinalini Singh of Bhavan’s Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya with 96 per cent while Anuradha Eshwaran of the same school came a close third with 95.2 percent followed by C. Asha of Obul Reddy High School with 95 per cent. Nishtha Yogesh of Chirec Public School topped the commerce stream with 95 per cent followed by A. Sneha from Obul Reddy High School with 94.6 per cent. However, a complete picture of the CBSE city toppers is still to be arrived at, as most of the schools have not released their list of toppers. The overall performance of the girls in the State was better than the boys with the former having a pass percentage of 87.96 compared to 81.9 pass percentage of the latter. About 2,624 girls of the 3,161 who appeared cleared the exams, while 1,812 boys passed out of 2,060 candidates all over the State. Totally, 5,221 students appeared for the exams of which 4,436 students passed while 369 students failed. Results of 416 students have been withheld. Fall in percentageHowever, there has been a slight fall in the overall pass percentage of the students compared to last year. This year only 84.96 students passed compared to last year’s 86 percentage. “About 5,286 students had registered for the exam from Andhra Pradesh from 82 schools, but only 5221 students appeared”, a CBSE official said.
