VILLUPURAM: All candidates who contested Lok Sabha elections from both Villupuram and Kallakurichi parliamentary constituencies should submit their poll accounts by June 15, according to Collector R. Palanisamy. In a statement released here on Thursday, he said that as per Section 78 of the People’s Representation Act 1951, the candidates should submit their election accounts within 30 days of the declaration of winning candidates. The candidates - M. Anandan of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Adhi Sankar of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam - were declared elected from Villupuram and Kallakurichi parliamentary constituencies on May 16. The Collector said that the accounts should be submitted for scrutiny to his Personal Assistance (General) and the Assistant Accountant Officer in the office of the Personal Assistant (nutrition meal) to the Collector. Mr. Palanisamy cautioned that if any of the candidates failed to comply with the direction, he or she would be barred from contesting further elections as per Section 10 A of the People’s Representation Act 1951.
