Timely showers
Politics and rain, at least in Andhra Pradesh, always appear to have a connection. Dr. Reddy used to take pride in saying that while Mr. Naidu’s tenure of nine years, every other year was a ‘drought year’ with lack of rain, while repeatedly saying how Varuna, the God of Rain, has been with the people of Andhra Pradesh and sent much-needed showers, year after year, when he was Chief Minister since 2004.And it all seemed too much of a coincidence when ther
e were sharp showers even as Dr. Reddy’s name was being announced as Leader of the Congress Legislature Party, just a day before his swearing-in as the Chief Minister.
