KANCHEEPURAM: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said that he fulfilled a vow made at the time of Rajiv Gandhi’s cremation that he would visit the memorial at Sriperumbudur only after those who masterminded the assassination of the former Prime Minister were punished.

Talking to reporters at Sriperumbudur after paying homage to the Congress leader, Dr.Swamy said those who eluded justice for more than a decade were eliminated in the war in the island nation.

Expressing concern over the attitude of some persons such as Vaiko of the MDMK and Thol.Thirumavalavan of the VCK, who were mourning LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran, Dr.Swamy wondered how the Congress could include the VCK in the list of alliance parties knowing that party’s stand on the LTTE.

Dr.Swamy said the people of India would never forget Rajiv Gandhi, who was instrumental in laying a strong foundation for economic reforms.

TNCC president K.V.Thangkabalu and former Union Minister E.V.K.S. Elangovan were among those who visited the memorial and paid floral tributes.
