Another suspected A(H1N1) flu case in Coimbatore
Special Correspondent
COIMBATORE: Another case of suspected A(H1N1) flu was reported here on Thursday.
A 40-year-old businessman from Mettupalayam in the district complained of flu-like symptoms on arrival at the Coimbatore airport after a trip to Malaysia.
The man got himself admitted to a private hospital on Avanashi Road near the airport. But, the doctors there referred him to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where a quarantine ward had been established for such cases.
He, however, refused to get admitted to the CMCH and insisted on going home.
Dean (in-charge) of CMCH V. Kumaran said the man left for Mettupalayam and the hospital informed the public health authorities that the patient had left against medical advice.
The authorities then allowed the person to remain in his house.
The health authorities in Mettupalayam were asked to monitor him. He was asked to wear a mask and told not to leave his house. He might come to the CMCH to give his blood serum sample and throat swab, Dr. Kumaran said.
