Mango godowns searched

KARUR: Municipal public health and sanitary department officials conducted searches at godowns used to store mangoes in Karur on Friday in an attempt to deter traders from using carbide to hasten the ripening process of the fruits. The search was conducted in godowns near bus stand, police lane area, Karuppayee Koil Street, etc. and seized about one and a half tonnes of mangoes.
