Dhananjay Kumar takes charge in Delhi

Bangalore: Senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former Union Minister V. Dhananjay Kumar on Friday took charge as Karnataka’s Special Representative in New Delhi.

Mr. Kumar will act as a coordinator between the State and the Centre in getting clearances for various development schemes. The former IPS officer Subash Bharani, who has been appointed Chairman of the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC), handed over charge to Mr. Kumar at the Vikasa Soudha. Minister for Home V.S. Acharya and Minister for Ports Krishna Palemar congratulated Mr. Kumar on the occasion. Mr. Kumar, who was elected MP four times from Mangalore, also served as Union Minister. He will continue as the spokesperson of the party in Karnataka.

Mr. Kumar told presspersons that the Centre should stop discriminating against the State Government in releasing funds. Dr. Bharani, who was visibly upset with the Chief Minister’s decision to remove him from the post of Special Representative, said he was not inefficient to handle any offices in the Government.
