New Delhi
NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has finally implemented the longstanding proposal to allow flexibility to plot owners in getting their layout plans sanctioned in Narela and Bawana either under the area standard plan or the Master Plan. This was announced by MCD Standing Committee chairman Ram Kishan Singhal on Friday. Brought into effect“The proposal to provide this option was tabled at the MCD Standing Committee meeting earlier this year but was not brought into force given the moral code of conduct in place for the Lok Sabha polls. But now that the elections are over, this proposal has been brought into effect,” said an MCD official. “Earlier the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation had put forth the condition that all buildings in these two areas would be constructed only as per the standard plan to ensure a uniform look in the areas. But later with the coming of the new Master Plan for Delhi, certain norms were changed as people wanted to construct buildings according to their own designs. Therefore we moved a proposal in the Standing Committee to provide people with the flexibility to seek approval either under the standard plan or the Master Plan,” he added. Issues sorted outAccording to the MCD, the twin issues of restricted Floor Area Ratio (FAR) for expansion and lack of adequate parking space provision in the plots which would often lead to rejection of the building plans in these areas by the MCD under the standard plan norms would now be a thing of the past. “Now people would have the option of seeking approval under the Master Plan norms which are more relaxed and provide for adequate parking space and additional FAR coverage for plots in Narela and Bawana,” Mr. Singhal said.
