The Hindu Education Plus Career Fair beckons you

CHENNAI: The Hindu Education Plus Career Fair 2009 beckons you! Here is your chance to settle crucial life-settling issues, bring questions and ask them. The panel of experts are all primed to answer the most difficult of questions and indicate what your calling could be.

Organised jointly with the University of Madras and sponsored by the Indian Bank, the fair commences with a brief inaugural function. The first main event for the day is the pre-counselling session sponsored by the Jaya Group of Institutions.

P.V. Navaneethakrishnan, former director, Entrance Examinations, Anna University, will kickstart the session with a presentation on the engineering admissions scene. This will be followed by a presentation on the medical admissions in the State by S. Pappathi and Chitra Srinivasan, nodal officers, Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education. Jayaprakash Gandhi, education consultant, will later provide an all-round analysis of the position, post results this year.

The second session, sponsored by Do-IT, will commence at 2 p.m. During this session, IT Edge, high-ranking representatives of top IT firms and an entrepreneur will participate in a panel discussion on the current position of the IT industry in the context of a global recession. K. Ganesan, vice-president (Human Resources), Tata Consultancy Services; Sriram Rajagopal, assistant vice-president (Human Resources), Cognizant; and Suresh Sambandam, founder and CEO, Orangescape, will participate in the discussion.

The third and final session is the Core Engineering Seminar where representatives from the construction and automotive industries will interact with students. K.P. Raghavan, executive vice president and head – Divisional Corporate Centre at L&T ECC Division; and a two-member team from Renault Nissan Technology and Business Centre, Nissan Operations, led by Grahame Conforth, senior vice president & director, will make presentations.
