‘View Between the Trees’ ends today

BANGALORE: A world of colour greets viewers at “View Between the Trees”, a contemporary visual art show, at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat.

The exhibition organised by NeoKala.com, India’s second online art gallery, showcases the works of veteran artists such as Govind Nimbalkar to emerging ones from Baroda, Kolkata, Pune and Mumbai.

The exhibits employ varied media such as oil, watercolour, ink, acrylic, charcoal and graphite, on canvas and paper. Payal Gupta of NeoKala.com said: “The exhibition is titled ‘View Between the Trees’ as the works attempt to look through the vistas of time and space and at the developing nature of art in India.”

One of the favourites at the show was Swapna Malwade’s abstract that used mixed media on canvas, Jute and Mirror. Another popular one was ‘On your mark, get set... go!’, Muktinath Mondal’s depiction of a memory game.

Many applauded M. Shiva Kumar’s creativity in his self-portrait that uses tea and watercolour on paper.

N.N. Upadhyay, president, Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce, who inaugurated the show, said that the works exhibited synergy, knowledge and profundity.

A.K. Saxena, Chairman, Indian Institution of Production Engineers, expressed the need for Indian art to have a better global standing.

The exhibition will end on May 24.
