State likely to get Rs. 400 crore
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh is expecting a share of at least Rs. 400 crore out of Rs. 1,600-crore World Bank-funded National Calamities Response Management Programme of the Union government.
The programme is likely to be grounded in the State from this monsoon season when there is likelihood of the State being hit by cyclones/ floods.
Disaster Management Commissioner Dinesh Kumar told The Hindu, 75 per cent out of the expected fund, would be an outright grant by the Centre, while the State would contribute the rest. The funds would be used to build cyclone shelters, embankments and roads. The Disaster Response Force sanctioned to the State would be located at Vijayawada.
