HYSEA plea to Central government for tax sops

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Software Exporters’ Association (HYSEA) has urged the Centre to extend tax exemptions under Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) scheme by another 10 years right away since it expires next year.

In a statement here, HYSEA said the election results have raised the expectations of the industry and that the situation offered great opportunity for the government to pursue reforms.

Referring to the global recession and consequent slowing down of Inforamtion Technology (IT) industry, it urged the government to take steps to bring the I-T industry back to the 30-40 per cent annual growth rates.

The extension of STPI would send a positive signal and attract large investments into the industry.

The association also urged the government to treat all domestic work as “deemed exports” for the industry.

Additionally, it wanted the government to leverage IT in its governance initiatives as it will serve to create more demand and propel the industry.
