KOZHIKODE: There would be 10 more ATMs of Punjab National Bank (PNB) in the State shortly. This was announced by Krishnan Ramiah, General Manager and Head of the bank’s operation’s in Kerala, at press conference here on Friday. PNB already has 42 ATMs in the State. The bank’s credit-deposit ratio was 77.5. It was impressive compared to the State average but less than its own credit-deposit ratio the previous fiscal. PNB had posted significant gains in the State in spite of the economic slowdown. The total business of the Kerala circle stood at Rs.3,759 crore in March this year, compared to Rs.3,027 crore at the end of the previous financial year ending in March 2008, indicating a growth at 24 per cent. Deposits also went up to Rs.2,120 crore in March 2009, registering a growth rate of 27.61 per cent from Rs.1,661 crore in March 2008. PNB also registered an increase of an impressive 63 per cent in priority sector advances which touched Rs.1,040 crore at the end of financial year in March 2009. Agriculture credit also grew impressively at 74 per cent to Rs.295 crore. It was only Rs.179 crore in the financial year that ended in March 2008. Mr. Ramiah said the performance in Kerala was in tune with PNB’s impressive performance across the nation. PNB’s net profit was Rs.3,091 crore, which was the highest among nationalised banks.
