Delay in launch of civic works decried

Bhimavaram: Delay in launching civic works costing Rs. 2.20 crores came under sharp criticism at the municipal council meeting here on Sunday. Municipal Chairperson Thota Seetharama Lakshmi was in the chair. Congress councillor N. Rambabau raised the issue and sought to know the reason for the delay. TDP councillor B. Rammohana Rao sought urged authorities to seek an explanation from BSNL for erecting cell towers in the town allegedly without prior permission from the civic body. Alleged corrupt activities in the Town Planning wing were condemned by councillor R. Srirama Murthy. Several members expressed their dissatisfaction over non-utilisation of Rs. 80 lakhs released.
